Invitation to the Local Vacations & Experiences Vancouver Island (LoVE VI) Tourism Community

We get to live, work, and play on this beautiful island on the traditional territories of the Nuu-chah-nulth, Kwakiutl, Laichwiltach, and Coast Salish peoples, known today as Vancouver Island.  Even better, we get to be part of a dynamic and innovative tourism sector that connects people and places through experiences, freely chosen by guests who have the ability and mobility to travel.  

We also know that many people in our local communities are not getting to experience what so many visitors and locals do - the saltwater adventures and marine wildlife, the mystical hikes and bike rides through lush rainforests, the mouthwatering culinary delights made from Vancouver Island produce and products, the culture, the history, the sense of wonder.  LoVE VI is gathering the tourism community together, asking you to help us help more Vancouver Island families explore where they live.

Values-Driven Operations

LoVE VI provides funding, vacation planning guidance, sample itineraries with pre-screened tourism partnerships, and logistical support to Vancouver Island families so they can explore where they live.  Families travel autonomously and independently throughout their one, two, and three day LoVE on Vancouver Island, experiencing a sense of freedom and wonder for where we get to live. All vacations and experiences are for Vancouver Island families and will take place on Vancouver Island (and adjacent islands Gulf Islands accessible by BC Ferries).   

Families are referred to LoVE VI through Vancouver Island social service organizations, so if you know a Vancouver Island family who deserves LoVE, let people in their support organizations know how to connect with me!

Our ask

LoVE VI includes transportation, food & beverages, accommodations, attractions & activities (indoor & outdoor) for all of our families, so we are seeking in-kind donations from our tourism community to create a diversity of vacation options.

We also welcome individual and other financial donations that enable LoVE VI to purchase directly from our local tourism community. You can fund an entire vacation, or choose to donate any amount at any time.  You are all helping Vancouver Island families explore where they live - thank you!  

Tourism Community Pledge

We pledge to purchase/match an equivalent experience for every tourism partner donation received and only book directly with local tourism operators to ensure our purchases provide maximum benefit to our local community.

The team of LoVE VI is committed to partnering and co-supporting Vancouver Island-owned and operated businesses and organizations.  We are honouring our values of generating and spending our resources where we live, as the more holistic we are as an organization, the more benefits flow into enhancing quality of life for residents of Vancouver Island and the ecosystem in which we live.  Our purchasing decisions are guided by social procurement principles (Buy Social Canada, 2023); we assess the economic, social, environmental, and community impact of our partnerships and purchases.

How LoVE VI works

LoVE VI partners with the local tourism community to create accessible, responsible tourism opportunities for local families. We connect with Vancouver Island social service organizations who work with families in need, then guide those families through planning and financing one, two, and three day vacations right here on Vancouver Island.

LoVE VI helps families on Vancouver Island take a break — to play, spend time together, and escape life’s stresses - close to home, but away. If you vacation on Vancouver Island, you know how amazing this place is for exploring, for relaxing, for adventuring, and for reconnecting with loved ones. Are you a Vancouver Island-owned tourism business? Join us in helping local families explore where they live! We’re guiding families through vacation planning and seeking tourism partners to make these experiences possible.

We also welcome financial contributions—every dollar helps, and you can even fund an entire vacation for a family! All purchases are made directly from local tourism operators, ensuring the maximum benefit stays within our community. Plus, for every tourism partner donation, we pledge to match it with an equivalent experience.
