Volunteering for my Community

One thing I think all of the candidates in this by-election agree on is that this community is full of generous, kind, and engaged residents. Volunteering has been one of the best ways I've found connections here in Campbell River and I'd like to give special mention to Young Professionals of Campbell River (YPCR), Discovery Passage Aquarium, Greenways Land Trust, Volunteer Campbell River, Greenways Loop, and Campbell River Salmon Foundation.

The people I have met and the initiatives I've been part of (fundraising, trail building, professional development, snow shovelling, governance, event planning, salmon habitat restoration, strategic planning, the list goes on...) have enabled me to learn about and contribute to organizations that support a diverse and liveable community. People of all ages and all abilities are positively impacted by the work that happens within our not-for-profit sector, and I will continue to share my time and experience and enthusiasm whenever and wherever I can.

I also thoroughly enjoy attending other not-for-profit events as a guest and as an ad-hoc volunteer, so I thank each and every organizer (and their teams) who puts time and energy into giving back to the people and the planet, right here at home. And to those who show up in the best ways that they can (you may have more time than money or more money than time), thank you.
