Signs that I’m running for Campbell River City Council

It’s been quite an interesting process thus far - as a candidate for City Council, I need to get my name and my face and my message out to as many people as possible, and quickly. So if you’re reading this, thank you! Please connect with me if you have questions about why I’m running for Campbell River City Council, and let me know what matters to you and what I can learn about this amazing community from you.

One question a lot of people ask me is, “Where are your signs?”. And my response is that I don’t have single-use campaign signs. If you want to find a sign that I was part of in the community, check out Greenways Loop and its beautiful FROG, created and designed by our talented friend, the late Curtis Wilson (Mulidzas), and named (Forest, River, Ocean, Greenways) by our Mayor Andy Adams.

Greenways Loop has been a multi-year, multi-person project in Campbell River - a legacy trail that takes residents and visitors on a 25 km circle tour of the city, however the completion was stalled at a few stages over the years. In the fall of 2018, a number of enthusiastic and community-oriented friends and neighbours (including me!) started strategizing how we could improve active transportation, and enhance safe, accessible, and affordable recreation in this place that we all love. Over the next 18-24 months, The Loop Group met as a team, and with Campbell River City Staff, Campbell River City Council, service and not-for-profit agencies, Campbell River residents, and our neighbouring First Nations, with the simple, yet ambitious plan to complete the Greenways Loop. One of the tangible results of those efforts is the signs!

As you ride the 25-28 km loop through the forests, alongside and across rivers, next to the ocean, and into greenways, I trust that FROG, in its bold green colours, has guided you. The Loop Group and the City of Campbell River worked alongside the community to create effective, appealing, and functional signs that encourage and enable more people to access this safe, accessible, and affordable recreational space. The FROG signs on the Greenways Loop help represent who I am and why I’m running for Campbell River City Council.
